Botanic Gardens - Pruning Trees and Shrubs with Robin Howell
Class will begin with some indoor instruction from the garden’s curator of the Japanese and Asian gardens with the 2nd half of class being held outdoors with standing and walking. This class will cover tools (including how to sharpen pruners), timing, and techniques. Dress for the weather as this is an out-door demonstration and practice class.

Optional: bring your own pruning tools to practice what you have learned. Class size limited to 20; register early to avoid disappointment.

Herbal Work Study: Spring Greens
The first two hours will be spent weeding, grooming, thinning, planting, or whatever else needs doing in the Herb Garden. The last hour will be spent learning about edible spring greens masquerading as weeds. I will have cold water and bug spray (if needed) available, you bring your favorite hand tools for weeding and grooming (soil knives, Cape Cod weeders, old kitchen knives, trowels, pruners, gloves, etc. – no hoes or rakes needed, though). . Everyone will get to go home with a handout that includes tips and recipes.
