Arbor Day Celebration and Tree Tour
Co-hosted by Memphis Tree Board and TUFC West TN Chapter.

The Memphis Tree Board will be providing tree samplings to give away, Tree Benefits Coloring Books, and educational information all day.

Join Arborist Bo Kelley and Tree Team member Linnea West on a tour from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm through the garden where they will discuss the role and value of trees in both natural and urban environments. Techniques for accurately identifying species in the field will be examined and tips for proper planting and care of your trees will be offered. A journal or notebook and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

The first two hours will be spent weeding, grooming, thinning, planting, or whatever else needs doing in the Herb Garden. The last hour will be spent learning about edible spring greens masquerading as weeds. I will have cold water and bug spray (if needed) available, you bring your favorite hand tools for weeding and grooming (soil knives, Cape Cod weeders, old kitchen knives, trowels, pruners, gloves, etc. – no hoes or rakes needed, though). . Everyone will get to go home with a handout that includes tips and recipes. Please arrive at the Horticulture Building in the south end of the parking lot between 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. The group will leave the building promptly at 8:30 a.m. Please dress appropriately: wearing layered clothing is suggested for this time of year.
