Dr. Armitage is back with Walkabouts in the his Garden! Grab a cup of coffee and join him on Facebook Live for a Walkabout in the garden of Memphis Area Master Gardener, Angelika Hall.
Angelika is German and was influenced by her grandmother who grew flowers and her mother who grew veggies. She is all about creating a habitat for birds by growing raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and grapes for them to eat. Her raised beds are fueled by waste from a local horse farm combined with leaf trash from her own yard. Her poppies and larkspur are five feet tall, and have a unique system of plastic fencing and twine holding them upright. Her herb garden in in full swing, with comfrey blooming profusely. She is an avid propagator of fushia, and even has one named after her. An arbor is currently loaded with wonderful pink blooms of Zephirine draughn, and her other roses, in full bloom and gorgeous, fill the air with their wonderful perfume. |
You can be a part of this event by clicking on this link which takes you directly to Dr. Armitage’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ArmitageAllan

How do Master Gardeners meet the challenges in their own gardens? Memphis Area Master Gardeners invite the public to “Through Our Garden Gates” to their personal gardens where they have solved drainage problems, fought weeds, built water features, selected plants for sun and shade, maximized small spaces, and made large spaces more intimate.
Garden hosts are on-site at each garden throughout the day to answer visitor’s questions and to provide plant lists. In addition, each garden will feature presentations by experts on weed control, shady plants, tree care, and other topics. There is an “Ask A Master Gardener” plant clinic available at one of the locations.
Gardens and landscapes have long been the inspiration for creating art. Honoring this tradition the tour this year will feature artists working on site to capture the beauty and spirit of each garden.
