Memphis Area Master Gardener Member Meeting Minutes

Business Meeting
Call to order 6:18 p.m.
President Betty Nolan called the Thursday, November 11, 2021 Memphis Area Master Gardener’s meeting to order. The meeting was conducted in-person at the Agricenter.
UT Extension Update
Dr. Cooper thanked us for attending and encouraged us to purchase a MAMG calendar. He announced that you can now renew your membership online. You can also print the forms and mail them in. Dr. Cooper also reminded us to enter our hours:
15 hours for 10+ members which can be Service or CEU or combination of both. Other members need 32 hours with a mandatory 8 Core hours plus 8 CEUs.
Voting for 2022 Executive Board
Betty introduced Steve Scheer, Nominating Committee Chair. Steve passed out the ballots and asked for volunteers to count the votes. No one on the ballot was allowed to volunteer.
A runoff was needed for the Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Junior Director and Ten Plus Director.
Ultimately our new Board was announced:

Vice President: Jan Dickey
Treasurer: Annette Dabaldo
Vice-Treasurer: Gwen Campbell
Recording Secretary: Debbie Hill
Corresponding Secretary: Jane Carter
Junior Director: Rick Clayton
Senior Director: Marilyn Trimble
Ten Plus Director: Mary Heim
Approval of the Oct 14, 2021 Meeting Minutes
No corrections were made to the minutes. Kathy James moved to accept the minutes as presented in the newsletter. Barbara Culligan seconded the motion.
Treasurer’s Report
Ginny Fletcher gave a Financial Report as of October 30, 2021. Report will be filed in the MAMG office.
Christmas Party
Betty introduced Barbara Culbreath to update us on plans for the MAMG Christmas Party. The party will be December 1, a Wednesday, at MBG, Hardin Hall. Appetizers will be served at 5:30, dinner at 6. The table decorations will not be judged this year and a gift bag will be given to those to choose to decorate a table. Members are allowed to bring one guest.
Budget 2022
Betty introduced Barbara Culligan, Finance Committee Chair, to present the proposed 2022 budget. Barbara emphasized that Dr. Cooper would like that our expenses have an educational focus as our mission statement reads. She explained that a balance budget is one where we do not take on debt. A budget is a list of priorities for the next year. After some discussion, Barbara Culligan made a motion to approve the MAMG 2022 budget as presented by the Finance Committee. Since Barbara is the Finance chair there was no need for a second to the motion. Betty Nolan asked for a hand vote since we did have a quorum. All members voted yes for approval. No nay vote was received.
