Junior Master Gardener Camp offers a fun and educational experience for students entering grades 3-6 (ages 8–11). Campers learn about nature, science, wildlife, and plants through hands-on projects, educational discussions and games, on-site field trips, and make-and-take-home crafts.

Camp is held on the Agricenter lawn near the Farmers Market (the “red barn”). We’ll be outside, and the weather may be hot, or rainy, or absolutely beautiful. Camp hours are 9 AM to Noon, and volunteers are needed each day from 8:15 to 12:30 to allow time for pre-camp briefing and putting away supplies at the end of the day.

Volunteers assist camp activity leaders with setting up for each activity, guiding campers on completing crafts or learning activities, escorting kids to the restroom, and otherwise keeping everything running smoothly. You don’t need any specialized knowledge and working with the camp students is easy and fun. Volunteers are fairly active, moving around to assist campers, and don’t do much sitting, so comfortable clothes and shoes are a must!

Sign up by contacting Steve Scheer. Eight volunteers will be needed per day and you may volunteer for up to two days during the week. JMG Camp is a CoRe activity.
