Collierville Victory Garden: Growing Food, Knowledge & Community
The Collierville Victory Garden in Shelby County, Tennessee, is an award-winning horticultural garden managed by dedicated Memphis Area Master Gardener volunteers with a mission to educate and give back to the community.
Each year, the garden produces approximately 3,000 to 4,000 pounds of fresh vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers, greens, squash, cucumbers, okra, watermelon and cantaloupe. The harvest is donated to local organizations serving those with limited access to fresh food, with much of the produce benefiting the Collierville Food Pantry.
But the Victory Garden grows more than food. It also serves as a teaching garden, welcoming school children, Scout troops and other community groups to learn about growing food and flowers, garden maintenance, pests, diseases and other horticultural topics.
